Onion services v2 are deprecated and will stop working entirely in the
not too distant future according to the public timeline of the Tor
Project: https://blog.torproject.org/v2-deprecation-timeline
We entirely missed the party though… but we can at least mention the v3
addresses in the README now, so that users have one more source of
truth in a place they are likely to consult if the old addresses stop
working for them.

apt 1.6 includes https directly with a-t-https just remaining for
compatibility with debootstrap for the moment. ~alpha6 is picked as
this includes also the renewed mirror method allowing the use of another
optional feature.

The package is hardly needing any specific version, but
bumping it once in a while to keep us away from ancient
versions seems like a good idea.

The spec defines both values to be interchangeable with the https line
being preferred, so lets adopt this one here.

The address and the onion itself exist still, but the repository exists
no longer as all distributed packages available via different channels
from backports to experimental.

The service behind httpredir.debian.org is decommissioned and the domain
points to the deb.debian.org service, so following the redirect and
explaining the effects it has a bit is a good idea.

The trademark FAQ suggests giving a pointer to Tor and what isn't a The
Tor Project product in case "Tor" is used and we are worse in that it is
even part of our product name, but using anything else as name would be a
disservice to users.

Silly me wrote the URI in the control file before having actually
created the repository… lets not think too deeply about what a
"tranport" might be. Sounds 'fishy' at least…

The README can't be an authoritive listing of onion services, but by
giving some examples and providing pointers to sources more people might
find the information that there are in fact many repositories available
as an onion service providing an encouragement to use them if needed.

httpredir.debian.org is now the preferred service name for the http
based redirector called http.debian.net in its testing phase.

The default configuration will make use of a local tor instance, but
there is nothing technically stopping a user from configuring the use
of a remote tor instance via the Acquire::tor::Proxy option.

Upstream as such is the 'apt' package which itself is native and it
seems unlikely that the apt-transport-tor package would benefit from
being handled as non-native as every change will in practice be a
packaging change and/or a new version better dealt with as… a new
version… rather than as a debian revision.

The package itself builts no binaries anymore and just symlinks to
binaries in an architecture-independent directory with an
architecture-independent interface.

The technical side of tor support is handled mostly by the apt package
itself, so it makes sense to have the team as maintainer to have
potential bugreports end up there as well as having one of its current
members (me) in the uploader list.

APT 1.3 supports socks5h proxies out of the box now, so instead of using
a copy of the -https transport as a proof of concept, we can now
deligate all of the technical implementation details to APT via a few
simple symlinks.

The future "upstream" is APT itself, which leaves the packaging as the
new master branch of this repository. The merge just ensures we keep all
of the history straight rather than renaming branches.

The package has arrived in Debian, so this intro sentence is not needed anymore.
